I am hoping DxO will adopt a similar scheme in a future update. Why it is like this I simply don't understand, as in DeNoise you can see the whole image before committing yourself and even scroll the before and after across the screen. Overall, I prefer the results from DxO's DeepPrime BUT(and it's a big but) I dislike the fact that you can't see the effect on the whole image until you export - you just get a miniscule window in the side bar to see the effect on a small section of the image during editing. I also have the Topaz applications and have made a comparison between DxO's levels of noise reduction and DeNoise AI.
#Working with sony a7iii images in dxo photolab elite upgrade
I will likely not upgrade to future versions of DXO PL now that I can recover shadow detail just as well with linear camera profiles in Camera Raw and use Topaz for noise reduction.Ĭlick to expand.I have DxO PL 5 Elite and have been using it (and v4) for the past nine months, or so, to wean myself off Lightroom. DXO PL does a great job recovering shadow detail but I feel Camera Raw with a linear camera profile is just as good. My guess is that offering a Photoshop Plugin version of DXO Pure Raw would kill DXO PL. I did try Pure Raw but felt the interface for Photoshop was as cumbersome as just using DXO PL so I did not buy it. As I mentioned previously I now use a linear camera profile in Camera Raw so I rely less on DXO and use Topaz Noise instead. When it comes to noise reduction Topaz vs DXO check out this video. I do all my image editing in Photoshop since I make use of The Retouching Toolkit and also the TK Luminosity Panels. I feel DXO PL also is good at recovering shadow detail.

My use has been primarily for optic corrections and noise reduction. I use DXO PL 4, the upgrade to 5 just did not add enough for me to upgrade this year.
